Hope for the Week | 9-21-16

Explore God
This week, we are exploring the question, “Is There a God?” Click here to read David Dwight’s recent blog, in which he briefly describes his journey from atheism to belief. Join the Explore God conversation by texting “hopecentral” to 313131, and you’ll receive weekly updates and encouragement throughout the series.

All-In Volunteer Gathering This Sunday
If you’re interested in volunteering at Hope, join us for an afternoon of music, popsicles, and conversation. We’ll talk inspiration, ways to serve, and getting connected during this exciting next season at Hope. This Sunday, September 25 at 3pm, West Creek patio.

Journeying Through Grief
If you’ve recently experienced the loss of a close family member, you are invited to an 8-week supportive group on Tuesday evenings beginning September 27. Our goal is to provide a safe and open environment where those who are in various stages of grief can walk side-by-side with one another, wrestling through the role and questions of faith in grief, and being equipped with practical tools on how to healthily continue through the process of grief. The group is facilitated in partnership with the Barnabas Center. To find out more and determine if this group is right for you, please email Nicole Unice at nunice@hopecentral.com.

Leadership Nominations
Leadership nominations are now open through Oct. 10th to receive candidates for the ordained office of deacon and elder. Elders and deacons serve three-year terms and provide governance and direction for the life of Hope. Any active member of Hope may nominate any other active member who is not a family member. Please submit nominations to nominations@hopecentral.com. Include your name, the name and contact (email/phone) of the person you are nominating, and several sentences about why you are recommending this person for leadership at Hope.

The 2016 Hope Church Golf Classic will be held on Monday, October 17 at Stonehenge Golf & Country Club, a beautiful, private golf course in Midlothian. Thrive Begins Tomorrow
Thrive is a place where women of all ages and stages connect weekly for teaching and conversation. Each week, Thrive offers large group teaching as well as table group conversation centered on the day’s lesson. Our desire is for women to be encouraged as they explore and deepen their understanding of God, while at the same time cultivate new and meaningful relationships with other women. The fall semester begins tomorrow (Sept. 22nd) at our West Creek Campus. The morning session is each Thursday, 10-11:30am, evening session is 7-8:30pm. Find more details and registration info here.

Feeding Future Leaders
Hope is FEEDING FUTURE LEADERS at TJHS this fall! Our mission is to serve a light meal to the 150-175 students who stay after school each day at TJHS for athletics, band, and tutoring. Our program will run Mondays –Thursdays from September 6- November 3. That’s between 6,000 and 7,000 meals over the 10-week period, and this has the potential to impact up to 25% of the student body!

To contribute to the effort, please visit the Vikings Fund Website

In addition to financial support, we also need people to serve the food and help with the on-site prep. Click here to sign up. This is a great way for a small group or family (middle school kids and older) to serve together!

HOPE Church

Offering experiences, relationships and places where people can find life and purpose through Jesus Christ. From the beginning, Hope has been trying to help people who don’t know God, have every opportunity to do so. It’s part of our DNA. Since we believe a church is people and not a building, this means our mission can happen every day and all over the place – as Hope people go to work or school, and spend time with family, friends and colleagues. This means that we could offer experiences anywhere we find ourselves – a ball game, an evening out for dinner with a friend, a neighborhood cookout – you get the picture. It means that many places can become places where we seek to help people find life, God-life, the real thing. And we know that this often happens though sincere relationships and friendships.
