Giving Hope
This Advent season, we’re inviting our Hope community to support Samaritan’s Purse through donations of $10 or more. Each donor will receive a holiday ornament and a card to give a loved one, letting them know that you made a donation in their honor. Congregational Vote – Leadership at Hope
On Sunday, January 8, 2017, all members are invited to vote to approve new elders to serve a three-year term. More information on the candidates will be available soon. More information will be provided in the coming weeks through Hope for the Week and in the worship guide.

Discover Hope
This two-part class is a great first step at Hope. It is designed to help people learn about what it means to have a relationship with Christ and what it means to be a member of Hope. We also teach about our mission, vision and values and share about specific ways you can get more involved. January 6 & 7 at West Creek campus. Register at

Hope Singles Christmas Party 
Come join the Hope Singles (30’s-50’s) for our 4th Annual Christmas Party this Saturday, December 17, from 6:30-9pm at Hope West Creek. We will have time to socialize, enjoy some delicious food and share together in the joy and hope of Christmas. Dress is festive and the cost is only $10. Chapters Christmas Party
If you’re in your 20s, whether married or single, please join us for our annual Chapters Christmas party and White Elephant Gift Exchange on Tuesday, December 20 at 7pm. We’ll gather in our usual Midtown space (4912 W. Marshall Street, Richmond).  Please bring the best gift you can buy for $10 and enjoy an evening of laughter, fun, dessert and coffee. The Word – A Study of John’s Gospel
This core class is about studying the scriptures, the Word of God, as a way to know Jesus, the Word who became flesh. Pastor Brad Houff will lead this study of John’s Gospel to help participants grow in love for the scriptures and in love for Jesus. The four-week class begins on Wednesday, January 11 at 6:30pm (West Creek campus). Sign up or get more information here.

Financial Peace University
This biblically-based financial management course will help you achieve your financial goals by showing you how to eliminate debt, save for the future, and give like never before. You will be challenged and motivated to make a new plan for your money and your future. Financial Peace begins on Wednesday, January 11 and runs for 9 weeks (West Creek campus).   • Barnabas Training BasicBecoming a Better Spiritual Friend

Barnabas Training Basic equips you to better encourage friends facing difficult times in life and faith. This biblically-based seminar helps you understand others by gaining a biblical understanding of your own heart. Saturday, January 28 at Hope West Creek. Find more details and register here.

  • Anxiety Group

First Light Counseling is offering a group for women dealing with anxiety, led by Brenda Murray (LPC) and Susan Cromer. This 10-week group will be offered at First Light’s office beginning Jan. 10, 2017.  For more information, please email our care team at

  • Journey through Grief

Hope is partnering with the Barnabas Center to offer a group for those who have experienced the loss of a close loved one (spouse, child or parent). This 8-week session will meet on Mondays beginning January 9th and continue until February 27th. We will meet 7-8:30pm at Hope West Creek.  If you are interested in attending, click here.

Hope Students Winter Weekend
Registration for Hope Students Winter Weekend 2017 is live! Middle schoolers and high schoolers will spend February 17-19 at NorthBay Adventure Camp in North East, Maryland for a weekend of connection and fun. Visit for more information.

Holiday Update
This holiday season, please consider donating children’s winter clothing and shoes. Volunteers are needed in the store Monday – Saturday from 1-4pm and 3-5:30pm. Men are needed to help with furniture pickups Monday – Saturday, from 9:30am-1:30pm.

Info session for Summer Short-Term Missions Trips
The leaders of all the summer short-term mission trips will hold an informational meeting for anyone interested in participating. Join us at Hope West Creek on Sunday, January 8, at 4pm to learn the specifics about each of the trips offered and how you can get involved.

Year-End Giving
As the end of the year approaches, there are a few things to keep in mind regarding your giving to Hope. Most importantly, if you have moved in the past year, please make sure to update your address on The City if you have an account, or email your new address to Melinda Lestyan ( This is to update church records and to assist with year-end financial statement mailings, which are required by law. Also, any 2016 giving must be postmarked and/or received by 12/31. For a few more helpful tips and reminders, check out our Giving page on the Hope website.

HOPE Church

Offering experiences, relationships and places where people can find life and purpose through Jesus Christ. From the beginning, Hope has been trying to help people who don’t know God, have every opportunity to do so. It’s part of our DNA. Since we believe a church is people and not a building, this means our mission can happen every day and all over the place – as Hope people go to work or school, and spend time with family, friends and colleagues. This means that we could offer experiences anywhere we find ourselves – a ball game, an evening out for dinner with a friend, a neighborhood cookout – you get the picture. It means that many places can become places where we seek to help people find life, God-life, the real thing. And we know that this often happens though sincere relationships and friendships.
